Yes yes, I know. I am getting old … but I believe that it is totally okay to be a child at heart! It makes life more fulfilling and fun, and unrestrictive of certain expectations (you know, as long as you got your priorities straight). I can’t ever imagine not enjoying games, embracing creativity and just being plain silly.
Today, I was going nuts about the Pokemon GO release. Probably spent a good part of the day screaming about it with my friends. And thankfully, they understood cos they were just as excited about it. I downloaded it to my phone pronto, and awaited the completion of the loading bar of what seemed like forever. The most exciting thing about it was being able to go on real life Pokemon adventures and explore in your own hometown, catching monsters along the way. This was my ten year old dream!! One that I’m sure many other kids would have had as well. And it was coming true! (At the ripe age of .. k not telling)
I had an hour lunch break and I had never eaten my crab nigiri that fast before. I usually like to savour every single bite and dissect the crab meat into individual strands. Call me crazy or whatever but, I just couldn’t wait. There were so many Pokespots in Newmarket! If it wasn’t for this app, I might not have noticed some of the street art either. I envision that our lunchtimes are gonna be geolocation adventures from here on out .. maybe this is a good time to start bringing sandwiches from home again so I can get the eating part out of the way and make the most of my hour haha.
The app layout is pretty nice, and its an intuitive user experience. I haven’t noticed too many user interaction errors other than the overlapping close buttons, and the buttons that interfere with my finger flick as I’m trying to catch a Pokemon. The guiding map also has some nice soothing colours. Not too sure about the trainer clothes, but its believable as something a real person would wear for this type of adventure. And since PGO is like a sport, activewear goes well with it. I have just reached level 5 and only just picked a team (Team Mystic) so I’m not too sure how the battle system works just yet.
I guess a precursor to this interest in Pokemon GO was Geocaching. I found it so fun that I could go on real life “treasure hunts” and maybe I will get into that again one day. Definitely takes up more time and deliberation. PGO is so much more accessible since it is built on an already long standing fanbase, plus anything thats officially Pokemon really gets me going. (Except the Pokemon Online TCG game. Long story short, I was disappointed in the artwork and the gameboy version was 100 times better. Graphics make a major impact on me)
I CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY PGO AGAIN TOMORROW.
And possibly do some deliberate Pokemon hunting! I’ve had enough of Zubats tbh. I was finding them everywhere! This game also makes me want to go outside *gasp*. So far, so good!
Smell you later! (heh)
